Starke County Plan Commission to meet June 10

The Starke County Plan Commission will be holding a public meeting this Wednesday, June 10th.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 5:30pm Central Time at the Annex 1 Meeting Room, located at 53 East Mound Street in Knox.

Under the Old Business section of the agenda, Plan Commission will discuss multiple resolutions:

Resolution 2026-PC-12 is an amendment of Article 6 regarding livestock keeping and agricultural use. This is an initial draft of the amended proposal.

Also listed under Resolution 2026-PC-12 on the agenda, the next item of discussion will be Agricultural Structure Permit Fees. This is also an initial draft amendment to the current zoning ordinance policy that restricts charging permit fees for agricultural buildings.

An added item to the agenda under Old Business is Resolution 2026-PC-08, the Fence Ordinance. Plan Commission will review and explicitly define “approved” vs. “prohibited” materials for fencing and establish zoning-specific standards; with a special focus on authorized building materials.

Under the New Business section of the Agenda, the Plan Commission will see a presentation on the proposed Calendar Year 2027 budget.

Also under New Business, Plan Commission will discuss an amendment to Ordinance 2006-22, in regards to contractor registration renewal.

After any staff reports, public comment, and board comment, the meeting will be adjourned.
