Starke County Sheriff’s Office to provide wellness checks in light of storms

The Starke County Sheriff’s Office shared an announcement yesterday, in regards to the potential of dangerous weather today.

The announcement states that with the uncertainty surrounding today’s storms, the Starke County Sheriff’s Office will be taking proactive steps to help ensure the safety of the community.

The Sheriff’s Office will have additional deputies and dispatch personnel on duty to assist during and after the storm. Once emergency situations have been addressed and conditions are safe, their goal is to have deputies check on vulnerable members of the community.

The announcement goes on to say that if you or someone you know lives alone, has special medical circumstances, or may otherwise need assistance after the storms, you can contact the Dispatch Center with their name, address, and phone number; and deputies will make every effort to check on these individuals either by phone or in person, to help ensure their safety and well-being.

Dispatch can be contacted at 574-772-3771, Option 2.

The announcement ends by stating that the Sheriff’s Office encourages everyone to prepare now, stay aware of weather conditions, and check on neighbors before and after the storm; and that together, we can help keep Starke County safe.
