
STARKE COUNTY, IN — June 16, 2026 — A press release from the Starke County Sheriff’s Office shared today that Deputies from its department responded to a serious two-vehicle crash with injuries at approximately 6:41 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at the intersection of 700 East and 200 North.
Upon arrival, emergency responders located a black GMC pickup truck towing a trailer resting against a tree with significant damage. A Toyota passenger vehicle was found in the yard of a nearby residence with extensive front-end and rear-end damage.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the GMC pickup, driven by a 31 year old female from North Judson, was traveling southbound on 700 East when it failed to stop at the intersection of 200 North. The pickup entered the path of the Toyota, which was being driven by a 36 year old male from Grovertown.
The driver of the GMC sustained injuries in the crash and was airlifted to a South Bend-area hospital for treatment.
The driver of the Toyota was transported by Starke County EMS to Northwest Health Starke Emergency Department with non-life-threatening injuries. A passenger in the Toyota, a 22-year-old female from Grovertown, sustained critical injuries and was airlifted to a South Bend area hospital.
Investigators believe alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the crash. The incident remains under investigation by the Starke County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau.
The Starke County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Washington Township Fire Department, Starke County EMS, Lutheran Air, MedFlight, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, and T&T Towing.
