ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind — A proposed bike trail brought a crowd to North Liberty Monday night as people demanded more answers about where it would go and how it could affect nearby farmland.
Many who attended said they weren’t told about the proposed Midwest Continental Divide Trail before plans moved forward and worry it could affect private property.
Project representative Shawn Peterson said the trail is designed to promote conservation and tourism and would not cut through private farmland or change zoning.
Even so, many people said they don’t trust the process and want county leaders to be more transparent.
State Rep. Jake Teshka also attended the meeting.
