The Town of Francesville made an announcement today, reminding citizens that its recycling bins are to be used for recycling only.
Town officials have been informed that the bins are not being used properly. The announcement stated that if the misuse continues, the recycling bin will be removed.
Town officials shared these guidelines for different recyclable materials:
- Cardboard: Break down boxes to maximize available space; no pizza boxes allowed.
- Paper: Products that are allowed include newspapers, mail, books, and magazines. No cigarette butts are allowed in recycling.
- Aluminum: Beverage cans only.
- Plastic: Bottles and jugs only, jugs should be washed out. All other plastic items are welcomed at county recycling.
- Glass: Beverage bottles and food containers only. No mirrors, plate glass, windows, porcelain, or ceramics. Again, bottles or jugs should be washed out.
- Electronics: None. No electronics can be recycled.
The town ended the announcement by instructing citizens: When in doubt, just throw it out.
