Pulaski County officials seek public input on county facilities

The Pulaski County government is seeking public input on the future use of several county-owned facilities.

In an announcement, officials said they are looking for recommendations regarding the best use of county-owned buildings and the locations of county departments.

According to the announcement, the county is focusing on facilities that have not undergone significant recent upgrades.

Officials identified the east annex, the former school building on Riverside Drive, as a priority. The Health Department and Extension Office currently operate from the building, which officials say has multiple issues, including significant accessibility obstacles. According to the announcement, the county is prioritizing relocating those departments to new locations that would provide safer and more comfortable work environments while improving service to the public.

Other county facilities included in the discussion are Arens Field, the Highway Department garage north of Winamac, the west annex at Main and Franklin streets, which houses the Emergency Management Agency and Coroner’s Office, the Soil and Water office, the EMS base and the Recycling Center/Transfer Station.

The county plans to discuss the topic during both August County Commissioner’s meetings and residents are encouraged to provide public comment during those meetings. Members of the public may also submit comments directly to Commissioners at the following email addresses:
