Starke County LEPC to meet today, July 20

The Starke County Local Emergency Planning Committee will meet today to discuss emergency planning efforts, training updates and preparedness initiatives.

The meeting is scheduled for 1pm Central Time in Meeting Room Annex 1, located at 53 East Mound Street in Knox.

Following the approval of minutes, committee members will receive updates on several ongoing items under old business, including the Communications Committee, weather spotter training, Tier II reporting and Local Emergency Planning Committee plan updates, along with a review of the committee’s goals and progress.

Under new business, the committee is scheduled to discuss planning for a 2026 exercise, including a site visit to REAGENT, review festival and activity plans for 2026, receive a training update and consider any additional business that may come before the committee.

The agenda also includes updates from emergency support function partners and stakeholders, including representatives from fire, EMS, law enforcement, highway, healthcare and the health department, along with community and school representatives. Committee members will also hear an update from Emergency Management Agency Director Victoria Chessor and participate in a roundtable discussion.

The next meeting is scheduled for Oct. 19, unless otherwise advertised.
