A representative from the Indiana State Board of Accounts has contacted Starke County officials to let them know that the county has been removed from the “Unauditable” listing on their website.
Starke County was designated as unauditable earlier this year, while still catching up on a backlog of multiple years’ worth of unfinished reconciliation work for the county. At that time, the county’s goal was to be caught up by the end of June.
The Indiana State Board of Accounts held a meeting in Starke County on June 30th to discuss the topic with officials.
The original information shared when the status was designated stated that there was a subsequent visit from the State Board of Accounts scheduled for August 12th; it hasn’t been stated whether that visit will still occur now that the “unauditable” designation has been removed.
