The Starke County Plan Commission will hold a regular meeting including two public hearings on Wednesday, August 12th, beginning at 5:30pm. The meeting will be held in the Annex 1 Meeting Room, located at 53 East Mound Street in Knox.
Following routine business, the commission will hold two public hearings on proposed amendments to county ordinances.
The first hearing will be in regards to Resolution 2026-PC-14, a proposed amendment to Ordinance 2006-22 regarding contractor registration. According to the agenda, the proposed amendment addresses updates to the registration timeline and bond information. The commission will hear public comment, discuss the proposal and could reach a consensus on forwarding the amendment to the Starke County Board of Commissioners for adoption.
The second public hearing concerns Resolution 2026-PC-13, a proposed amendment to Article 6 regarding agricultural structure permit fees.
The agenda states the proposal would remove subsection 6-5-2(D) in its entirety. Following the public hearing, the commission is scheduled to discuss the proposal and may reach a consensus on forwarding the amendment to the commissioners for adoption.
Under old business, the commission will continue discussion of Resolution 2026-PC-15, which concerns the regulation and restriction of commercial data centers. According to the agenda, discussion will include a draft ordinance, findings of fact and the comprehensive plan. The commission is also expected to schedule its next working session on the proposal following public comment and board discussion.
The meeting will also include staff reports, public comment and board comment before adjournment.
According to the meeting agenda, all interested people will have the opportunity to be heard. Written statements may be submitted up to four hours before the meeting and will be included in the official record.
