The City of Knox is inviting the community to witness the opening of a time capsule that has remained sealed for 50 years.
Mayor Dennis Estok announced last week that the city’s 1976 time capsule will be opened this upcoming Wednesday, July 8, at 6:30pm Central Time at Knox City Hall.
The capsule was assembled during the nation’s Bicentennial celebration in 1976 and has remained unopened for the past five decades. According to the announcement, the time capsule contains a variety of items from that year, offering a glimpse into the history of the community and the era when it was sealed.
The public invited to attend the opening of this capsule and to discover the contents of it, alongside city officials. The event is free and open to the community.
Knox City Hall is located at 101 W. Washington St. in Knox.
