The Starke County Commissioners accepted the resignation of the county’s longtime Emergency Management Agency director, Tori Chessor, during a special session last week and voted to advertise the position.
During the meeting, Chessor thanked county officials and expressed hope that the county would continue building the EMA program. She said the state has recognized the work the county has done over the past four years and emphasized the importance of finding the right person to continue that work.
She also said she expects to remain involved locally through her new role with the American Red Cross.
Commissioners voted to accept the resignation before discussing the vacant position. The board then voted to advertise for a new EMA director.
Commissioners also discussed needed repairs to the EMA vehicle. After discussing the vehicle’s condition and available funding, the commissioners voted to have the vehicle repaired.
