The Starke County Surveyor’s Office is asking residents to report drainage obstructions following recent storms and heavy rainfall, and more rain to come.
The announcement, shared on Thursday afternoon, asks residents who notice an obstruction in a ditch that is holding back or restricting the flow of water to contact the Surveyor’s Office so officials can look into the issue.
When reporting an obstruction, residents are asked to provide their name and contact information along with the location of the obstruction. A road name, nearest address or intersection, and any other information that could help officials locate the problem is also requested.
The Starke County Surveyor’s Office can be reached at 574-772-9135. The after-hours emergency number is 574-806-3011. Residents who reach voicemail are asked to leave their contact information and the location of the obstruction.
The Surveyor’s Office says timely reports from residents can help officials respond to storm-related drainage obstructions as quickly as possible.
