The Starke County Youth Club is accepting applications for its 2026 Youth of the Year program.
The program is open to current or former Starke County Youth Club participants who are now in eighth through 12th grade and are interested in attending college or trade school after graduation.
During September, participants will meet with a mentor once a week for approximately an hour and a half at a local Youth Club site at Knox Community Elementary School, North Judson-San Pierre Elementary School or Oregon-Davis Elementary School.
Participants will work on a resume, cover letter and essay or speech as part of the program. Mentors will also provide guidance through the scholarship process, and the completed essay may be used for other scholarship opportunities.
Selection week and presentations are scheduled for September 28 through October 2. The Youth of the Year Awards and Dinner will be held October 22.
Scholarships of $1,000 for first place, $500 for second place and $250 for third place will be awarded.
Those interested in the program can contact the Starke County Youth Club at 574-772-1665 or email emilym@thescyc.org for more information.
