The Winamac Volunteer Fire Department reported that it responded to a structure fire late Saturday night that kept crews on the scene for approximately three hours.
The announcement shares that firefighters were dispatched at 11:47pm August 29th, with the Star City Fire Department requested for mutual aid.
According to the Winamac Volunteer Fire Department, the structure was fully engulfed when crews arrived on scene. Firefighters deployed hose lines, connected to a hydrant and attacked the fire from multiple sides of the structure.
The department said crews were able to quickly knock down the bulk of the fire before moving inside to address remaining hot spots.
Firefighters also used the department’s thermal drone to search for hot spots along the exterior of the structure, primarily on the roof.
The Star City Fire Department, Winamac Police Department, Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office and Pulaski County EMS assisted during the response. The Red Cross was also involved.
The Winamac Volunteer Fire Department said crews remained on the scene for approximately three hours.
