Important upcoming dates for Indiana voters

Several important dates are approaching for Indiana voters ahead of the November 3rd General Election.

The deadline to register to vote or update an existing voter registration is Monday, October 5th. Online voter registration applications must be submitted by 11:59pm local time that day, while registration forms submitted by mail must be postmarked by the deadline.

In-person absentee voting, commonly referred to as early voting, begins Tuesday, October 6th. Indiana voters do not need a reason to vote early in person, although photo identification is required. Early voting dates, times and locations vary by county.

Voters who qualify to vote absentee by mail have until Thursday, October 22nd to request a ballot. Applications must be received by election officials by 11:59pm that day.

Election Day is Tuesday, November 3rd, with polls open from 6am to 6pm local time. Absentee ballots must generally be received by county election officials no later than 6pm that day in order to be counted.

Voters can check their registration status, polling location and other voting information through the Indiana Voters website, at indianavoters.in.gov.
