The Indiana Department of Natural Resources is reminding hunters to prepare licenses and other required items as the fall hunting season begins.
Hunters can use the GoOutdoorsIN mobile app to have licenses available on their phones as well as to check in harvested animals while on the go.
Indiana DNR also encourages hunters to buy licenses and stamps ahead of time. Those who are unsure which licenses they need can use the state’s online Sport License Finder. Hunting maps, tips, workshops and other resources are also available through the DNR’s Learn to Hunt program and the 2026-2027 Hunting and Trapping Guide.
The DNR is also encouraging Hoosiers to spend time outdoors on Saturday, September 26th in recognition of National Hunting and Fishing Day.
September 26th marks the opening of Indiana’s youth deer season and the state’s final Free Fishing Day of the year.
On Free Fishing Days, Indiana residents can fish public waters without a fishing license or trout and salmon stamp. All other fishing regulations remain in effect.
