The Knox City Council is moving forward with the process of applying for a grant to update the city’s comprehensive plan.
During a special meeting that took place on September 8th, the council discussed applying for a grant through the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs. The grant would provide up to $50,000, with the city responsible for a $5,600 match.
It was noted during the meeting that Knox’s current comprehensive plan dates back to 2015 and that an updated comprehensive plan can be required when applying for certain other grants.
As part of the application process, the city will request proposals from consulting firms and form a committee of at least three people to review and score the proposals. The city will also seek public input through a survey and will hold a public hearing before the grant application is submitted.
Consultant proposals are expected to be due October 19th. The grant application is expected to be submitted in early November, with the city potentially learning whether it received funding in January of 2027.
