The Starke County Health Department has shared information about two mobile health services that will make stops in Starke County in the coming weeks.
Indiana University Health will offer mobile lung cancer screenings Wednesday, September 30th from 9am to 3pm Central Time at the Knox Community Center, located at 55 East Lake Street.
Those eligible for this screening must be between the ages of 50 and 77 and have a smoking history of at least 20 pack years. The screening uses a low-dose CT scan and takes less than 10 minutes, with no needles, preparation, or change of clothes required. Most insurance, including Medicare and Medicaid, is accepted, and assistance is available for those without insurance.

Additionally, Saint Joseph Health System will bring its Mobile Medical Unit to two locations in Starke County in October to offer mammograms. The unit will be at the Starke County Health Department, located at 108 North Pearl Street in Knox, on Tuesday, October 6th from 10am to 2pm Central Time. It will then be at the United Methodist Church, located at 210 Central Avenue in North Judson, Wednesday, October 7th from 10am to 2pm Central Time.
Appointments for the mammograms are preferred, but walk-ins will be accepted as the schedule permits. Appointments can be made by calling 574-335-4500 or toll-free at 1-888-455-4450.
