Mobile lung cancer screening this month in Knox

IU Health will offer mobile lung cancer screenings later this month at the Knox Community Center.

The mobile screening unit will be at the community center Wednesday, September 30th from 9am to 3pm.

To be eligible for a screening, individuals must have a history of smoking 20 pack years and be between the ages of 50 and 77. A pack year is calculated by multiplying the number of packs smoked per day by the number of years a person has smoked.

IU Health says the low-dose CT screening takes less than 10 minutes and does not require needles, preparation, or a change of clothes.

Most insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid, cover the screening. Assistance is available for those without insurance.

Appointments are recommended. To schedule a screening, call 317-962-LUNG, or 317-962-5864, or email lungscreening@iuhealth.org.

The Knox Community Center is located at 55 East Lake Street in Knox.
