The North Judson Redevelopment Commission reviewed recent improvements at Norwayne Field and discussed potential projects for 2027 during a meeting on Monday.
Officials reported decorative light poles at Norwayne Field have been installed, along with additional electrical and lighting work. Improvements to lighting at the stage were also discussed, along with the possibility of adding additional lighting in the future.
The commission also discussed plans for a trail extension through the park. Officials said bidding is expected during the winter, with construction anticipated to begin around March and be completed in May. The extension would connect with the existing walking trail and continue south through the wooded area before looping back.
Looking ahead to 2027, potential projects discussed included additional maintenance work, the town’s match for an Indiana Trails Program grant, new light poles, audio improvements at Norwayne Field and possible Christmas decorations.
Officials also discussed potentially adding security cameras at Norwayne Field. The cameras could use the Police Department’s existing system, with officials estimating cameras at approximately $250 each and discussing a potential total investment of about $3,500 to $4,000. No purchase was approved during the discussion.
The commission plans to continue working on its spending plan, with a formal plan expected by its second meeting in November.
