Pulaski County Chief Deputy Fred Rogers is retiring after more than 20 years with the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department.
A release from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office details Rogers’ career, beginning with Rogers’ hiring as a deputy in 2004. Over the years Rogers served as a deputy sheriff on road patrol, Patrol Sergeant, Detective Sergeant and most recently Chief Deputy under Sheriff Chris Schramm.
Rogers also served as a Physical Tactics Instructor, Emergency Vehicle Operations Instructor, Taser Instructor and Standardized Field Sobriety Tests Instructor.
Under former Sheriff Richwine, Rogers had the opportunity to serve as a Task Force Officer for the FBI Gang Response Investigative Team. According to the Sheriff’s Department, Rogers worked with other agents to investigate gang-related criminal activity, the Delphi Murder Trial and a series of local thefts involving items transferred across state lines.
More recently, Rogers served as an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, or drone, pilot. The department says his use of the drone directly led to the apprehension of fleeing suspects, including several this year.
Sheriff Chris Schramm has appointed Sergeant Seth Barton to serve as Chief Deputy as part of the transition.
