The Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum in North Judson has announced it will offer its Pumpkin Trains every Saturday in October this year.
The diesel-powered trains will take passengers on a 10-mile round trip to the Kankakee River and back. Each trip lasts approximately 45 minutes and begins and ends and the museum grounds, where passengers will be dropped off at a pumpkin patch with games and pumpkins available to choose for carving.
The museum features a diorama of the Erie, Chesapeake & Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York Central railroads, along with working railroad signals, a restored World War II Pullman Troop Car, rolling stock, engines and railroad memorabilia. Admission to the museum is free.
Departure times and ticket prices for the Pumpkin Trains are available at hoosiervalley.org. Tickets may be purchased online or by calling the depot on Saturdays at 574-896-3950. Advance reservations are recommended, as some trains may sell out.
Passengers who purchase tickets online need to pick them up at the ticket office before boarding and should arrive at least 30 minutes before the train’s departure time.
