The John Glenn School Corporation Board will meet Tuesday, October 6th, with public hearings on the corporation’s proposed 2027 budget and a potential project at Urey Middle School among the items on the agenda.
The Urey Middle School project is part of facilities work that was identified through an audit that began in 2019.
Previous discussions have included improvements to the windows, doors, roofing, mechanical systems, and learning spaces. Minutes from the September 15th meeting indicate that the project will not exceed $14.9 million.
The board held its preliminary determination hearing for the project in September and is scheduled to hold a project hearing and second preliminary determination hearing Tuesday. The board will also consider a project resolution, preliminary determination resolution, and a declaration of official intent to reimburse expenditures.
The board will also hold a public hearing on the proposed 2027 budget.
Other items include a resolution to transfer funds from the Education Fund to the Operations Fund, a 2026-2027 derecho storm calendar adjustment, and the purchase of school buses from Midwest Transit for more than $75,000.
Following reports from school officials and conference requests, and a space set aside for board questions or comments, the meeting will be adjourned.
The meeting will begin at 7pm and will be held at the John Glenn Administration Building, located at 101 John Glenn Drive in Walkerton.
The public is invited to attend this meeting.
