With colder weather approaching, the Moving Starke County Forward (MSCF) health coalition is once again hosting a blanket drive to help local people in need stay warm this fall and winter.

The MSCF Blanket Drive runs from Sunday, October 25 through Sunday, November 8. New or gently used blankets and sleeping bags can be donated at several local sites.

Drop-off locations include Community Services of Starke County, the Starke County Health Department, the Starke County Resource Center, the North Judson-Wayne Township Public Library, and the Hamlet, Koontz Lake, and San Pierre branches of the Starke County Public Library System.

Other businesses, organizations, or churches interested in assisting with these efforts are welcome to do personal collections and drop their items off at any of the sites mentioned above.

Starke County Resource Center volunteers have offered to launder all collected blankets for free before distributing them at no cost at the Resource Center. Local churches and organizations may coordinate with the Resource Center to pick up blankets for distribution during the winter.

Moving Starke County Forward is a local health coalition that has been active for over a decade. During last year’s blanket drive, MSCF helped collect more than 100 blankets that were distributed to local individuals and families throughout our communities.

MSCF brings together representatives from local organizations and community members to move the county in a healthy, positive direction through community initiatives.
