North Judson’s first full-time police K9, Jimy, passed away on Monday, October 26th, after a battle with cancer.
The North Judson Police Department announced Jimy’s passing in a social media tribute this week, recognizing his service to the community.
The announcement shares that Jimy helped to remove drugs from local streets and apprehend suspects, while also building relationships with local residents.
The department recalled Jimy’s ability to transition from law enforcement duties to playing fetch with children at the local elementary school.
Outside of his police work, Jimy was a beloved member of the Simpson family, accompanying them on family vacations.
In a separate social media post, owner Nikki Simpson described Jimy as a devoted guardian and companion, saying he left a massive paw print on the family’s hearts.
The North Judson Police Department expressed its appreciation to the Simpson family for their care of Jimy and recognized his lasting impact on the community.
