The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a phone scam involving callers claiming to help bond loved ones out of jail.
According to an announcement Wednesday afternoon this week, the Sheriff’s Office has received reports of individuals receiving calls from someone claiming to work for the department. Officials say the callers appear to have convincing information.
The Sheriff’s Office emphasized that corrections staff will not send barcodes or instruct individuals to visit local dollar stores or pharmacies to wire money for bond payments.
Anyone receiving one of these calls is encouraged to hang up and contact the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office directly.
Residents can call the dispatch center at 574-946-6655 and request to speak with someone at the intake or booking desk. Staff can then provide instructions on the proper way to pay someone’s bond.
