According to Starke County officials, citizens are encouraged to consider applying for one of the openings on several county boards and commissions for 2027.
Currently, appointments are needed for the following:
- Kankakee-Iroquois Regional Planning Commission
- Planning Commission
- Board of Zoning
- Health Board
- Library Board
- North Judson-Wayne Township Library Board
- Aviation Board
- Hospital Community Board
- Alcoholic Beverage Board
- City Planning Commission
- Property Tax Assessment Board of Appeals
- Starke County Convention and Visitors’ Commission
- Park Board
The announcement from the county indicates that there are multiple positions that are currently vacant, including on the Planning Commission, City Planning Commission, Property Tax Assessment Board of Appeals, and on the Starke County Convention and Visitors’ Commission.
The appointments will be made by various governing bodies depending on the seat. Some appointments will be made by Starke County Commissioners, Starke County Council, school boards, and other township officials.
Those interested in serving should submit their resume or request to the Starke County Auditor’s Office, located at 53 East Mound Street in Knox. Resumes and requests can also be sent to mhouston@starke.in.gov. Submissions should be addressed to the appropriate appointing board.
