The Starke County Commissioners could vote tonight to offer highway superintendent Rik Ritzler a long-term contract. President of the Commissioners Jennifer Davis is spearheading the effort to ensure the long-term road repair and bridge maintenance plans for the county are carried out. Ancilla College Offers Winter Term Course

Ancilla College NEWThe first winter semester course offering at Ancilla College begins today. The four-week introduction to psychology course is offered entirely online and is available to students at any college or university. Ancilla President Dr. Ken Zirkle says the credits are fully transferable to other colleges or universities. He adds taking a course during what is traditionally an off time academically can help students retain their athletic eligibility and meet the minimum standards for financial aid offerings. Road Closed for Bridge Sealing

 
 

A three-quarter stretch of Starke County Road 800 East will be closed today. Highway Superintendent Rik Ritzler tells WKVI News crews will be sealing the deck of the new bridge over Eagle Creek. As a result, 800 East will be closed between 50 South and 25 North. The road will reopen Sunday morning.

Knox Council Passes on Parkview Lot Purchase

The Knox City Council is passing for now on the purchase of a property in Parkview Heights. The owner of 406 W. Giles Court, Lot 41 offered the lot and trailer and shed that sit on it to the city for $3,500. That’s $1,000 less than her last offer.

Mayor Rick Chambers says funds from the Blight Elimination Grant the city received to buy and tear down dilapidated structures cannot be used to buy or demolish mobile homes. He also notes the city only paid $1,500 for eight vacant lots in Parkview. Continue reading
