Knox Officials Announce Recycling Cart Transition Timeline
The City of Knox is prepared to roll out its new recycling carts. Waste Management will begin delivering the 64-gallon wheeled containers on Wednesday, July 27th. City officials say residents should place their open recycling totes at the curb that day for pickup, even if they are empty. Waste Management will pick them up and replace them with the carts. Knox Mayor Unveils Performance Stage Rendering, Seeks Input
Knox Mayor Dennis Estok is ready to focus on the next planned Wythogan Park improvement. He shared a rendering of the proposed band stage with the city council Tuesday evening. The 18×30 foot structure will sit in the grassy area between the park entrance and the splash pad. Winamac Council Approves Sewer Rate Hike
Sewer rates will soon be going up for Winamac residents. The Winamac Town Council gave its final approval to an ordinance Monday, raising the sewer rate by six percent. Eric Walsh with accounting firm Umbaugh and Associates says the increase will allow the town’s Wastewater Department to save about half a million dollars in the long term, by refinancing one of its outstanding bonds. During Monday night’s County Council meeting, IT Director RB Walters discussed a possible upgrade for software to streamline the work.
