Economic Development Director to Outline Plans Tonight

starke-county-courthouseStarke County Economic Development Foundation Executive Director Charlie Weaver will present his long-term vision for funds from the county economic development income tax to the county council when they meet this evening. In previous meetings Weaver has expressed a desire to invest in road improvements in the Knox Industrial Park to make it more attractive to businesses looking to relocate or expand. Fireworks to Return to Wythogan Park

 
 

Knox Mayor Dennis Estok is bringing the city’s July 4th fireworks display back to Wythogan Park. They’ve taken place at the Starke County Airport northwest of Knox for the past several years. Estok wants to bring them back downtown to ensure youngsters are able to attend. His plans call for a parade to kick off the celebration. Continue reading

The North Judson Police Department once again has four patrol vehicles in its fleet. The town recently purchased two 2014 ½ Dodge Chargers to replace a 2011 Ford Crown Victoria and a 2013 Charger that were destroyed in a fire last October. Continue reading

Knox School Board Tackles Truancy

Knox-School-Board-2014“Project Attend,” a plan to improve school attendance of truant students, was discussed by the Knox School Board last night. Under the plan, school officials can inform the court of the student’s attendance records, grades, behavior and what they view is the problem as to why students are not attending regularly.
