Vacating County Road Paves Way for Future BraunAbility Investments

Braun Ability logoA major employer in Winamac may be taking the first steps that could lead to future investments.

Monday night’s Pulaski County Commissioners meeting brought a request from CDC Executive Director Nathan Origer following talks with BraunAbility and the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. Under the proposal, County Road 60 between 14 and 25 South would be vacated by the county.

Kindergarten Roundup at Oregon-Davis School is scheduled Wednesday, March 16 from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. A child must be age five before August 1, 2016 to register. Nineteen students have already indicated their intention to attend class next fall.

The 2016-2017 School calendar was approved when the board met Monday night, as was the publication of the school’s 2014-2015 Annual Performance Report. Continue reading

State Police Warn of Phone Scams During Tax Season

  
 

With tax season approaching, Indiana State Police are warning residents to be on the lookout for phone scams. Callers claiming to be from the IRS but often having foreign accents tell residents they may face a lawsuit or imprisonment if they don’t immediately send money for what they say is a delinquent tax bill. Then, they demand personal information to try to steal the recipient’s identity. Local Schools Report Low ISTEP Scores

 
 

ISTEP scores released today by the state indicate a double-digit decline in the passing percentage over last year. In 2013-14, 74 percent of public school students across Indiana passed both the English/Language Arts and Math standardized tests. The 2014-15 scores indicate only 52-percent of public school students made the grade on both tests. Both percentages are slightly higher when private and charter school students are factored in.
