Bonnie Louise Fox

Knox’s biggest high school sports fan and long-time Knox Athletics Booster has passed away.

Bonnie Louise Fox, age 88, of Knox, passed away Monday, December 4, 2023. She was born in the family home in Ober, Indiana on August 3, 1935 to Harry William Scott and Frances Marie (Dickson) Scott. She had attended the Ober School from grades 1-8, and went on to graduate from Knox High School in 1953. She then married her high school sweetheart, Phillip J. Fox, on February 28, 1954. She had worked for NIPSCO for 34 years, retiring in 1992.

She was a member of the Knox Athletic Boosters for 50 years, volunteered her time with money making activities for the Boosters, including running the concession stands at basketball and baseball games. She was a member of the Knox American Legion Auxiliary Post 131 for 43 years, selling red poppies that were hand made by veterans and working the fish fries held at the post, and drove for years to Lafayette to volunteer at the Indiana Veterans Home. She was also a member of the Knox VFW Auxiliary. She had worked at Girls State for years, spoke at KHS awards days, handing out scholarships, and was inducted into the Knox Athletic Hall of Fame in 2004.

She is survived by her son, Rodney Fox (Dianna) of Culver, two grandsons, five great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two brothers.

Funeral services will take place at 1:00pm (CT) on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, with visitation two hours prior to services, at M.C. Smith Funeral Home in Knox. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery in Knox.
