David A. Mattes, Sr., age 67, of Knox, passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2021.
David was born August 11, 1954 in Chicago to Jerry J. Mattes Sr. and Veulta Hunt Mattes, both deceased. He was a Veteran having served in the United States Marine Corps and he had owned and operated Bugs-R-Us Termite and Pest Control for many years.
He is survived by his daughter, Donna A. Swaim of Cicero, IN, his son David A. Mattes, Jr. of Knox, and two sisters, Carol Mattes of Joliet, IL and Candice Brajcki of Streamwood, IL, and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Dunkel Mattes, a son, Jonathan P. Mattes, a sister Cecelia Bialek, and two brothers, Harold Mattes and Jerry Mattes Jr.
A military graveside service will take place at 11:00am (CT), Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Eagle Creek Cemetery in Knox with a celebration of life immediately following at the Washington Township Community Building. M.C. Smith Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
