Donald L. “Don” Markin

Donald L. “Don” Markin, 85, of Buffalo, IN passed away surrounded by his family on Friday, May 7, 2021 in Cincinnati, OH. He had been living in Cincinnati due to health concerns. On December 10, 1935, Don was born on the family farm in Buffalo to the late Orvel R. and Edna C. [Dart] Markin. He was a 1954 graduate of Pulaski High School and served in the US Army for three years. Don married Carolyn Jo Hoover on May 8, 1955 in Winamac, IN. She passed away on February 22, 2010.

Don spent his career managing the grain elevator in Francesville, IN, retiring in 2000. He was a longtime member (44 years) and former chief of the Francesville Volunteer Fire Department. Don was also a member of the Francesville First Christian Church. He enjoyed volunteering at the Humanitarian Distribution Center in Francesville. Most of all, Don loved his family, friends, community, and the family farm.

Visitation will be from 3:30 – 5:30 PM EDT Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Francesville, IN.

Funeral Services will be held at 5:30 PM EDT Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Francesville, IN with Pastor James Ketchen officiating. A recording of the services will be shared on the funeral home website.

Private Burial with Military Honors provided by the American Legion will take place at Roseland Cemetery in Francesville, IN.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Francesville First Christian Church, Humanitarian Distribution Center, or Francesville Volunteer Fire Department.
