HAMLET – Donna Marjorie Riehle Toth, 78, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 26th, 2023, in her home, Hamlet, IN with her loving family and devoted caregiver Gertrude Namuchimba. Donna was born March 11, 1944, in Phoenix, AZ, to Daniel Riehle and Vivian (Binkley) Riehle, and had lived in Starke County all her life.
On September 5, 1965, in Valparaiso, IN, she was married to her soul mate Stephen Louis Toth for 43 years. Survivors include a son, Donald Daniel Toth of Hamlet; daughter, Stefanie DeAnna (Chris) Olson of LaPorte; three grandchildren, Devon and Delilah Toth, and Grant Olson; a brother-in-law, Daniel Toth Jr. of Union Mills, a sister-in-law Virginia Toth of La Porte, and sister-in-law Sherry Riehle of La Porte. She was preceded in death by loving husband, Stephen Louis Toth, her parents and brother, Michael Riehle.
Donna was secretary to the Superintendent of Schools at Knox Community School Corporation for 21 years and a bus driver for Oregon-Davis Schools for 18. Donna had a servant heart and believed in community service. She served on the Starke County Library board for 13 years; and the 4-H board for many years; was a member and officers of the Starke County Purdue Extension Homemakers Association for over 40 years! She also was a member of the Knox United Methodist Church, Northern Indiana Community Foundation board member, Starke County Historical Society Board, and a member of the Historical Railroad Museum. Donna sang for weddings and funerals for years and was very proud and honored to have been the only soloist for Knox High School Band. Her children, grandkids, cousins, friends, classmates of ’62 were very dear to her, and she would often show her love through her gift of cooking and baking. She loved spending time in her garden, planting flowers and taking care of others. She loved a good laugh and enjoyed hosting a gathering at her home for family and friends. Her faith was a big part of her life, and she was always ready to pray for someone in need. Her compassion for others was evident and she left her positive cheerful and inspirational imprint on many.
The viewing will be held on Thursday, March 2nd from 10:30am -12:30pm CST at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet, IN. Chapel and Funeral services will begin at 12:30pm CST with Pastor Jeff Zigler officiating. Burial will be at Fletcher Cemetery, Hamlet. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Donna M. Toth may be made to the Knox United Methodist Church or may donate to the Steve L. Toth and Donna M. Toth Family Scholarship Fund which provides scholarships to Oregon-Davis Seniors.
