George Otto Skibbe

George Otto Skibbe, of North Judson, beloved husband, father, and grandfather left his blessed Christian life on earth for the joys of his eternal home in heaven on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at the age of 88.

George was born on May 11, 1932 in North Judson to George T. and Alma (Spenner) Skibbe. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at St. Peter Lutheran Church in North Judson.

George lived out his Christian vocation as a block operator for the railroad, working in the railroad tower in North Judson as well as various other towns throughout northern Indiana. He was also an active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, serving his Lord in various roles throughout the years.

George enjoyed the wonders of God’s creation, spending countless hours with his flowers and garden and feeding the neighborhood birds and squirrels.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Beverly, whom he married on July 13th, 1957 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Westgate, Iowa. Also surviving are his daughter Brenda (Gordon) Schumacher and his three sons, Paul, James (Annette), and Steve, and his favorite granddaughter Kimberlyn (fiancé – Bryan Thomas). He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Carol Skibbe. Many nieces and nephews were also special and well-loved by George.

George was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Mildred Sramek, and his brother, Rev. Cecil Skibbe.

George’s family will gather for a private graveside service at Highland Cemetery in North Judson. While gathering together to celebrate God’s blessings in George’s life is not possible at this time, they invite everyone to take a moment to read and reflect upon one of George’s favorite Scripture verses, Psalm 121.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may consider a gift to St. Peter Lutheran Church and School in North Judson.
