A Life of Adventure and Industry
Following his graduation from Knox High School, John attended Saint Joseph’s College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He returned home to carry on a proud family tradition, eventually becoming a third-generation owner and operator of the Falvey’s family clothing business.
While he was grounded in business, his heart was often in the clouds. An avid aviator, John earned his private pilot’s license in his 20s. His dedication to the craft led him to become instrument-rated to fly single and multi-engine aircraft, as well as helicopters. He took immense pride in his Beechcraft Bonanza, frequently piloting family and friends to destinations across the United States, creating memories that spanned the horizon.
In a later chapter of life, John traded his wings for the open road. He joined the world’s largest entertainment coach company, where he combined his logistical skill with a love for music. As a driver for dozens of the industry’s top entertainers, he was the steady hand behind the wheel, ensuring stars reached their venues safely across the United States and Canada.
Beyond his professional life, John was defined by his tireless work ethic. A true “do-it-yourself” spirit, he was a gifted commercial and residential handyman. Whether he was troubleshooting a complex repair or starting a new build, he remained active with his projects and his tools until his final years. He was a man who knew how to fix things, how to fly things, and how to keep things moving—leaving behind a legacy of capability and kindness.
A memorial mass will take place at 11am (CT) Thursday, May 28, 2026 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Knox. A graveside service will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery in Knox. M.C. Smith Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
