Judy Ahlenius, age 72, of Knox, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2022. Judy was born June 11, 1949 in Hammond, Indiana to Walter “Jim” Kobak and Anne Kobak Tarbert, both deceased.
Judy was very active in her community having served as California Township Trustee in Starke County for 34 years, she had also served as President and board member of Starke County Community Services and the Starke County Democrat Central Committee. She loved spending time with her family, she especially loved cooking for them and hosting family events.
She is survived by her children, Amy Ahlenius, Maureen Wells (Leighton), Christina McGrath (Nate Smith), Mary James (Denny), Peggy Siddal (Steve), Frank Ahlenius Jr. (Laura), Kathleen Medesi (Dan), and Samuel Ahlenius (Melinda), 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin “Frank” Ahlenius and a brother, Tim Kobak.
A celebration of life will take place at the Bass Lake California Township Fire Department on Saturday, April 16, 2022, from 1-3pm (CT). M.C. Smith Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
