Judy Kay Troike, age 66, of North Judson, Indiana passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, November 20, 2021, surrounded by loved ones after a brief illness.
She was born on February 19, 1955 in Knox, Indiana to Sally (Skibbe) Ludwig and James Ludwig, both deceased. Judy was the beloved wife of Robert (Bob) Troike since August 18, 1973, the loving mother of Kristine (Jason) Roehl of Lafayette, James Troike (Becky Hoffman) of LaPorte, and Louis Troike of Culver and the proud grandmother of Anna, Paul and Caleb Roehl.
She is survived by her brothers James (Claudette) Ludwig and Jerry (Joan) Ludwig, both of Knox and her brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, Edward (Debra) Troike of Hamlet, Charlene (Eldon) Jackson of North Judson, Marlene (Tim) Rork of Hamilton, OH, Jeff (Lisa) Troike of Attica, IN and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Charles (Todd) Troike and nephew David Jackson.
Judy enjoyed working as Bob’s partner at the family grain and cattle farm. She was employed for over 35 years with Marshall-Starke Head Start. An active member of Victory Christian Church of Knox, Indiana, her faith was a cornerstone of her life. She enjoyed her years of being a 4-H mom, being busy in the kitchen cooking and baking, mowing yards, playing with her dogs and going to plays at the Round Barn Theater in Nappanee but most of all spending time with her family and grandchildren. The family was especially thankful Judy, Bob and Louis were able to enjoy a very special vacation in October to Branson, MO. She had planned this adventure filled with many shows and activities several weeks before falling ill as a treat for Louis.
Judy was a member of Gleaners, Starke County Library Board, and the Starke County Farm Bureau. As an active member of both the North Central Beef Cattleman’s Association and the Indiana Beef Cattle Association, she helped serve thousands of ribeye steak sandwiches over the years at the Starke County 4-H Fair, Marshall County Blueberry Festival and Indiana State Fair.
