Kenneth G. “Ken” Carter

KNOX – Kenneth G. “Ken” Carter, 90, of Knox, IN passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at Settler’s Place Senior Living, LaPorte IN. During his time at Settler’s, Ken was loved and formed many friendships and considered them his second family.

Ken was born September 28th, 1932 to the late Henry and Nancy Carter in Bizmark, IL. Ken resided in Chesterton, IN with his late first wife Marlene Carter and his daughter Lisa. Ken served his country in the US Army in 1952-1954 as MP in Korea. After serving his country he joined Midwest Operating Engineers Local 150 as a crane operator. He retired in 1994 from that position. In 1996 Ken married Joyce (Stacy) Carter of Knox, IN. Ken was a very active member in the American Legion, the horseshoe club and Ray’s Bowling league of Chesterton, IN. His other hobbies included tending to his vegetable garden, flowers, feeding the birds, making his woodcraft projects for the children and tinkering in the pole barn relaxing to his music.

Kenneth is survived by his loving wife Joyce Carter; seven children Brooklyn Carter of Knox, IN, Lisa (Anthony) Fields of Michigan City, IN, Jerry Bowman of Chesterton, IN, Donald Stacy of Knox, IN, Toni White of Knox, IN, Teri Stacy Thomas of Plymouth, IN, and Tina Stacy of Star City, IN; eight grandchildren Justin Belcher of Michigan, Marlayna Belcher of Chesterton, IN, Miranda Belcher Burns of Chesterton, IN, Rebecca Stacy (Evan) Keiper of Knox, IN, Austin (Sierra) Stacy of Knox, IN, Zachary Stacy of Knox, IN, Ashley Arnett of Plymouth, IN, and Stacy Campbell of Star City, IN; nine great grandchildren Layla, Lexie, and Carter of Chesterton, IN, Peyton, Ryleigh, and Jaxin of Plymouth, IN, Madelynn Joyce of Knox, IN, Meika of Winamac, IN, and Paisley Jane of Knox, IN; and two sisters June Bell of Westfield, IL, and Helen Fritz of Bonanza, OR.

Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers Harold Carter, Lowell Carter and Charles Carter; and one sister Viola Carter Curtis.

It was Kenneth’s wishes to be cremated upon his death and that is being honored by his family. In accordance to his wishes, there are no services planned at this time.
