Marissa Peterson

Marissa Peterson, 40, of Star City (White County), passed away at 10:35 a.m., Saturday, May 28, 2022, at her home surrounded by all her family.

Marissa was born on Wednesday, November 25, 1981, at the Pulaski County Memorial Hospital in Winamac to Marvin and Marcy (Sekema) Woodke. On Saturday, June 13, 2009, in Winamac she married the love of her life Charlie Peterson; he survives.

Marissa had lived in Star City all her life and was a 2000 graduate of Winamac Community High School of Winamac.

She then went on to receive her RN degree from Ancilla College of Donaldson.

Marissa had recently worked at EPIC Healthcare.

She loved and enjoyed spending time around the pool and going shopping (never leaving the family under stocked)!!

Marissa loved and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her family and especially her granddaughter, Finley!!!!

Surviving are husband, Charlie Peterson of Star City; one daughter, Haley (husband Trent) Elliott of Kokomo; one granddaughter, Finley Elliott at home in Kokomo; one step – son, Hunter (companion Ali) Peterson of Winamac; mother, Marcy (husband Jeff) LaCosse of Monticello; father, Marvin Woodke of Monterey; two sisters, Mandy (husband Adam) Bennett of Winamac, and Marla (companion Wes) Rausch of Indianapolis; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Chuck and Deb Peterson of Monterey; former step – dad, Davie (companion Kim) Crissinger of Star City; one sister-in-law, Amy O’Neil and her daughters of Arizona; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Marissa was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Kenny and Martha Sekema; and one aunt, Gail Gretencort.

Visitation will be from 12:00 (noon) to 2:00 p.m. (EDT), Thursday, June 2022, at the Miller – Roscka Funeral Home of Monticello. Celebration of Life Service will be at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. (EDT), Thursday, June 2, 2022, for family and friends with Rev. Heath Hiatt of the Heartland of Winamac officiating.

Burial will follow at the Winamac Cemetery in Winamac.

Memorials may be given to the Church of the Heartland or the Winamac Animal Shelter, both of Winamac. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or can be mailed to the Miller – Roscka Funeral Home, 6368 E. US 24, Monticello, Indiana, 47960.
