Michael Ray Wilcox Jr. a loving father, husband, son, brother and friend passed away suddenly due to a tragic traffic accident at the age of 49 on Saturday August 5, 2023. Michael, fondly known as Mike, was born to Bonnie (Pete) Schmaltz and Michael Wilcox Sr. on October 6, 1973, in Plymouth, IN.
Mike was married twice in his lifetime first to Beth Smith for 14 years with whom he shares two loving sons Michael “Mikey” III and Andrew “Drew” Wilcox they divorced in 2010. He recently married Tiffany Wilcox on July 27,2023 in South Carolina. Mike was a lifelong resident of North Judson, a high school graduate of NJSP and college graduate of Vincennes University with a degree in Criminal Justice. He lived for his family, always being willing to drop what he was doing to be there for anyone especially for his children or grandchildren. He was a truly selfless family man who lived to serve his community in many different aspects throughout his lifetime from being a North Judson reserve police officer for many years, a 25 year SIA employee/Team lead/ERT member, a firefighter for 3 years on San-Pierre volunteer fire department along with being a part-time EMT for Starke County and Pulaski County for 2 years.
Mike is survived by his wife Tiffany Wilcox of North Judson, IN, as well as his sons Michael (Allison) Wilcox III, Andrew (McKenzie) Wilcox, his stepchildren Makayla Loughry, Payton Roberts, Emiley Roberts, and Anthony Roberts and three grandchildren Charlotte Wilcox, Xadrien and Xylan Miller of North Judson, IN. Mike is also survived by his parents Bonnie and Pete Schmaltz of North Judson, IN, his sister Michelle Hernandez and her partner Rich Evett, Nieces and nephews Luke, Alexa, Stephanie, Kaylee & Raelyn of Knox, IN.
Mike was preceded in death by his father Michael Wilcox Sr., maternal grandparents Lawrence and Arlene Jurovich and paternal grandparents William “Bill” and Alma “Alta” Mae Wilcox.
A Gathering of Family, Friends, Co-Workers and Emergency Responders will be held at 2:30 PM CT Saturday, August 19, 2023 at the NJ-SP Liberty Elementary Gymnasium, North Judson, Indiana. Mike’s cremains will be escorted from the San Pierre Fire House, San Pierre, Indiana to the Gymnasium, starting at 2 PM CT.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the San Pierre Volunteer Fire Department or to Starke County EMS in Mike’s Memory.
