HAMLET- Neil D. Berg passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2022, in Northwest Health, LaPorte Hospital following an illness. He was born on January 27, 1956, in Knox to the late Robert F. and Rubie R. (Koch) Berg and was 65 years-old at the time of his death.
Neil lived in the area his entire life and previously worked doing auto body repair for Lawmaster Pontiac in Plymouth. He was a Veteran of the US Navy where he proudly served as a SEAL Team Member. He also was a member of both the Hamlet American Legion Post 356 (serving many roles including past Commander) and the Knox VFW Post 748. Everyone who knew him for his fun-loving way, his sense of humor, and his infectious laugh.
He is survived by two sons Darren (Raynae) Berg and Tyler Bailey all of Knox; one daughter Nicole Berg of Rochester; seven grandchildren; one brother Robert (Jenny) Berg of Hamlet; and two sisters Tamara (Tim) Henigsmith of Walkerton and Joni (James) Coleman of Hamlet. He is preceded in death by his parents and one son Anthony Berg.
It was Neil’s wishes to be cremated, which has taken place. A Graveside Service will be at Noon CST Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Fletcher Cemetery, Hamlet. A Celebration of Neil’s life will occur after his Graveside Service at 1:00 PM CST Saturday, February 5, 2022, at the Hamlet American Legion 504 W. Railroad ST., Hamlet, IN, 46532 .
