James S. McCay
James S. McCay, age 76, of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2022 at his daughter’s home in Humble, Texas following a 10 year battle with prostate cancer. He was born on May 1, 1946 in LaPorte, Indiana, the son of James F. and Violet I. (Engle) McCay.
James is survived by his wife Sharon Lynn (Schwarzlose). He was wonderful man and a devoted and loving father, grandfather, and brother to his two sons, James L. and Christopher R., daughter Mandy Martinez, four grandchildren, Corinne McCay, Morgan Martinez, Gavin Martinez, and Evan Martinez, two sisters Carolyn Ruddle and Linda Caudill, and many nieces and nephews.
James graduated from Knox High School, Class of 1964. Following graduation, he served with the U.S. Army at Fort Eustis, Virginia during the Vietnam War. He married Sharon Lynn Schwarzlose, his wife of 55 years, and they settled in Michigan City, Indiana. His career was spent working at Bethlehem and LTV Steel Mills. During his retirement years, he enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family, near and far.
A viewing will be held on Friday, November 25, 2022 from 3:00-7:00 pm (CT) at M.C. Smith Funeral Home in Knox. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 1:00pm (CT), with visitation two hours prior to services, at M.C. Smith Funeral Home, 153 E. Washington St., Knox, IN 46534. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. Those who wish to remember James in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.

Bruce Kenneth Keiser
Bruce Keiser passed away in his home on November 16, 2022, surrounded by his loving daughters. Born March 6, 1931, those that knew and loved him were blessed with his fellowship for 91 years. Bruce “Ken” was born and died in Knox, IN but spent parts of his life in Arkansas. He earned a B.A. from Harding University and M.S. from Notre Dame. He was a jack of many trades who shaped and guided a multitude of students in his 43 years of teaching. His mentorship went well beyond the classroom. Bruce was a positive influence in the lives of countless friends and acquaintances spanning several generations. He was married to the love of his life, Wanda Jean Keiser (Clark), for 59 years until she joined the Lord to wait for him. They are finally together again along with their sons Perry and Bruce Keiser and their daughter Mary Jo Ross (Mark).
Bruce is survived by Sandra Dunek (Steve, dec.), Paula Corey (Dean), Patti Scaggs (Mark), and Alison Mroczkiewicz (Steve). He also leaves behind 19 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. Katherine Lynne Cleveland
Katherine Lynne Cleveland, age 62, of Perry, GA, passed away November 16, 2022. She was born in Chelsea, MA on August 24, 1960, to parents, James Edward Poss SR., and Judith Elaine Odom. Katherine loved visiting the ocean, indulging in seafood, spending time with her grandchildren and was a proud member of the Lutheran Women’s Mission League, also serving as secretary for several Lutheran Churches. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rodney Cleveland, and mother Judith Poss, father-in-law Robert Cleveland and brother-in-law Randy Kissinger. She is survived by her daughter Amber McCarty (Andy) and son Ryan Cleveland, sister Linda Overly (Mark), brothers Chris Poss and Eddie Poss (Carrie), grandchildren Sara, Megan, Tyler, McKenna, Colton and Keagen, and great grandchildren, Ben, Easton, Maddox, Zaydan and Jack, mother-in-law Eunice Cleveland, sisters-in-law Penny Kissinger and Tammy VanVolkenburg (Dave) and brother-in-law Kenny Cleveland (Patty), also survived by many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church on December 3, 2022, at 11am (CT) with visitation one hour prior to services.

Jan Hibner (nee Johnson) passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at the age of 79 years. She was born in Knox, Indiana and lived the last 50 years in Hales Corners. Jan graduated salutatorian from Knox High School. While attending Ball State University, Jan was president of her Pi Beta Phi sorority and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Retail Merchandising. Shortly after graduation, she moved to Milwaukee and worked for Marshall Field’s. Jan’s greatest loves were her family, her friends and her gardens.
