Funeral services for 83-year-old Leonard Carl “Sonny” Garling, of Francesville, will be Monday, October 25 at 2 p.m. ET at the St. James Salem United Church of Christ in Francesville with visitation there from noon ET until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. James Salem United Church of Christ or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Funeral services for 61-year-old Timothy Wayne White, of East Dublin, GA, formerly of North Judson, will be Saturday, October 23 at noon CT at the Braman and Bailey Funeral Home in North Judson, with visitation there from 10 a.m. CT until the time of services.

James “Jim” Johnson

James “Jim” Johnson, age 75, of Boca Raton, Florida passed away October 14, 2021. On July 18, 1946, was born to Walter Johnson and Slyvia Gappa, both deceased. Jim was a veteran in the Army, an elder at the First Christian Church in Knox, apart of the board at Crown Hill Cemetery, a little league coach, a business owner for 50 years, had a group of elderly women that he called his “little old ladies,” he enjoyed watching sports and the history channel and drinking Miller Lite. Surviving is his wife Vickie Johnson of Florida, his sons Matthew (Meagen) Johnson of Texas, Adam (Tonya) Johnson of Florida and Benjamin Johnson of IN, also surviving are his sisters Joanne “Schacht” Kauchak, Janne “Schacht” Forsberg, Janice “Schacht” Hibner and brother Jerome C. Johnson, and 5 granddaughters.

Kendall Paige Minix

Kendall Paige Minix, age 26, passed away Sunday, October 10, 2021 at her home in North Judson.  Kendall was born September 20, 1995 in Valparaiso, to Darryl and Angie (Howard) Minix.  She leaves behind her fiancé Chet Elder and her three babies, Ches Elder, Jack Elder and Reign Elder, a sister, Taylor Minix (Matthew Reed) and nephew Landon Reed, a sister, Halle Minix, and a brother, Hayden Minix, and three special cousins, Mark Schweikert, Connor Schweikert and McKala Lukac, and two special aunts, Lisa Schweikert aka Aunt Woody, and Ellena Calabrese, grandparents, Mark and Connie Stacy and Dorothy Grube, and great grandma Roberta Howard.  She was preceded in death by her favorite man, her great grandpa Jack Howard, cousin Dalton Richie and her grandpa Dale Grube.  Services and interment are private.  M.C. Smith Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Loretta Awald

Loretta Awald, age 74, of Knox, passed away Saturday, October 9, 2021.  Loretta was born February 11, 1947 in Knox to Chalmer and Stella Pitts Howard, both deceased.  She loved spending time with her grandkids and was a life member of the Knox VFW.  She is survived by her son, David Monroe Awald (Cierra) of Knox, a brother, Minard Howard (Betty), sisters, Deborah Sunblade (Simon) and Marilyn Noble, six grandchildren and many great grandchildren.  Continue reading

Glenn Raymond Schwartz, age 81, of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away Monday, October 4, 2021.  Glenn was born February 3, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois to Raymond Schwartz and Emma Koenig Schwartz, both deceased.  He is survived by his cousins, Marcia Bedrock of Knox and Kim Ray of Plymouth.  A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at 2:00pm (CT), with visitation one hour prior to services, at M.C. Smith Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.

LeRoy D. Gudeman

LeRoy D. Gudeman, 95 years old of Knox, Indiana passed away peacefully at home with his wife at his side on Wednesday, October 6th.

He was born May 25, 1926 in Francesville, Indiana to Josesph B. Gudeman and Huldah Hannah (Getz) Gudeman.

On July 21, 1990, at the United Methodist Church in Knox he married the love of his life, Diana Kay Crecelius.
