All guests will need to follow COVID-19 guidance which includes wearing a mask, social distancing, and hand sanitizing. Private graveside services will be held in Frankfort, IN. John W. Bowman, age 67, of Valparaiso, formerly of Knox, passed away Thursday, November 26, 2020 at Northwest Health Porter in Valparaiso. John was born January 18, 1953 in Knox, Indiana to John Bowman and Darlene Horner Bowman, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Roger Bowman. He is survived by his cousin, Lucille Bruenecke (Tom) of Knox.

Mary Lou Simpson, age 84, of Knox, passed away at her home on Tuesday, November 24, 2020. She was born April 28, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois to Ferd and Nell Besowshek, both deceased. She was a 1954 graduate of Mercy High School in Chicago, she had been a member and past president of the St. Thomas Aquinas Altar and Rosary Society and was a current member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Hamlet, she loved crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and loved being a homemaker and mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She had owned the Pickle Barrel Restaurant from 1985-95, where she became known as “Ma Pickle”.
Dr. Howard Leman
Dr. Howard Leman, age 82 of Columbia, TN went to be with the Lord on November 23, 2020. Born in Francesville, IN to the late Edward Leman and Ruth Musselman Leman. Dr. Leman spent many years in Florida where he pastored at Plantation Baptist Church for 26 years. Upon retirement, Dr. Leman moved to Sebring, Florida where he pastored on an interim basis for several churches. His years of ministry impacted countless lives, and many are serving the Lord today because of his influence.
Clarence W. Eifling
Clarence W. Eifling, age 93, of Knox, passed away Monday, November 23, 2020. Clarence was born March 9, 1927 in Crown Point, Indiana to William Eifling and Anna Weis Eifling, both deceased. He was a veteran having served in the Army Air Force. On May 12, 1951, he married Marilyn McCarney, she preceded him in death on March 9, 2019. He and Marilyn had been avid square dancers. He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Bryant of Knox. Private family services have taken place. Burial followed at the Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, Indiana. M.C. Smith Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Renee Potter, age 98, of Knox, passed away Monday, November 23, 2020. Renee was born on February 24, 1922 in Chicago, Illinois to Raymond Thiery and Lillian Faulk Thiery, both deceased. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Potter. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Ethel Thiery, Lillian Howard, Dorothy Cruz, Frank Thiery and John Thiery. A funeral service will be held Friday, November 27, 2020 at 1:00pm (CT) at M.C. Smith Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.

Ryan J. Lockridge
Ryan J. Lockridge, 40 years old, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 11:07 a.m. on Friday, November 20, 2020. He passed away at Memorial Hospital unexpectedly after a very brief illness. Ryan was born on September 18, 1980 in LaPorte, IN to Gary and Marilyn (Fisher) Lockridge, Sr. His parents survive. In 1999, Ryan graduated from North Judson San Pierre High School. In 2003, Ryan graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in History from Valparaiso University. Ryan loved to travel and visited 5 different continents and was able to go on missionary trips including Mexico, Honduras and Brazil. On June 11, 2011 in South Bend, Ryan and Heather M. Hohulin were united in marriage.

Joseph W. Walters, age 78, of Bass Lake, passed away Sunday, November 15, 2020. Joseph was born March 2, 1942 at his parent’s home in Ora, Indiana. He was a Veteran retiring from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service. He was a member of the Monterey American Legion, the Knox Masonic Lodge and was a Shriner. On August 24, 1963 he married Judith Chapman, she survives.
