Sue Awald, 74, of Walkerton, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2018. Funeral services will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. CST at the Koontz Lake Missionary Church. Visitation will be Sunday at the church from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America or the Center for Hospice Care. Karen A. Wittig
Karen Ann Dempsey Wittig, age 64, of Knox, passed away Monday, February 12, 2018 at her home. Karen was born August 26, 1953 in South Bend, Indiana. Karen enjoyed being outdoors and was extremely active. She had a passion for travel and was able to do much of this with her family over the years. Regarding many of the places she visited, Karen had researched tremendously, and would prepare a list of activities, attractions, and restaurants.
Karen loved all things pertaining to nature, and was an avid horse back-rider for years, owning and caring for many of her own horses while her boys were growing up. An athlete from a young age, Karen had an immense passion for all things encompassing health including vigorous workouts on a daily basis in addition to a careful nutrition program. Her prepared meals cannot be replicated. They were so delicious yet incredibly healthy! Karen loved being with her family and friends, “wine-time”, riding bikes, yoga, lifting weights, aerobics, long walks in nature, and cross-country skiing. During warmer months and in Las Vegas, Karen could undoubtedly be found at the pool, working on her gorgeous tan. She was always prepared with a bikini in her bag.

CULVER- Cindy L. Sherwood, 55, passed away in her home at 10:59 a.m. on Monday February 5, 2018.
Cindy was born in Hilliard, Ohio to Bill J. and Marjorie (Meeker) Hill McCormick. She graduated from Plymouth High School with the class of 1981.
On May 10, 1986 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Plymouth, Indiana, Cindy married James P. Sherwood.
She was a member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Culver and former member of St. Michael Church. Cindy helped with funeral dinners at St. Mary’s, and was involved with the “Women’s Connection” through Stonecroft Ministries.

Steven “Zeke” Richie
NORTH JUDSON-Steven “Zeke” Richie, 41, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2018 at I.U. Health Starke Hospital, Knox, IN.
Steven was born August 19, 1976 in LaPorte, IN to James F. and V. Louise. (Minix) Richie and lived in the area all of his life. He liked to hunt and fish, had an old fashioned soul and a passion for old style country and gospel music. He was always known as a jokester, fun-loving man, with a huge heart.
Survivors include one daughter, Kayla Richie of Cincinnati; one granddaughter, Emma Huizing of Cincinnati; his parents, James and Louise Richie of North Judson; two brothers, Tim Eskridge of Knox and James Richie Jr. of North Judson; and one sister, Mary Shepherd of Knox. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
