Peggy Ann Lawrence, 94, of Knox, Indiana, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Peggy was born to Ted and Sally Anderson and lived a remarkable life defined by love, generosity, family, and service to others. A devoted educator for 30 years, Peggy made a lasting and positive impact on countless lives throughout her community. She was deeply respected and adored by those who had the privilege of knowing her, both in and outside of the classroom.
Above all else, Peggy was devoted to her family. Her entire life centered around those she loved, and nothing brought her greater joy than spending time surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was the heart of her family—loving, generous, thoughtful, and endlessly supportive.
Peggy had a true love for life. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, reading, working puzzles, and playing bingo. She especially cherished the holidays, when her family would gather together and create the memories she treasured most.
Peggy is survived by her sister, Judy Sinn; her son, Todd (Sarah) Lawrence; seven grandchildren, Michele (Nicholas) Panetta, Asheley (Eric) Ritter, Lindsey Lawrence, Erica (Tom) Filipucci, Josh Lawrence, Emily (Tim) O’Brien, and Matthew (Amanda) Lawrence; and 17 beloved great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Lawrence; her parents, Ted and Sally Anderson; and her sons, Brian Lawrence and Brad (Donna) Lawrence.
Peggy leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, kindness, generosity, and devotion to family. She will be remembered not only for the many lives she touched throughout her years as a teacher and member of the Knox community, but most of all for the extraordinary love she gave so freely to her family.
She was truly a lover of life, and her warmth, strength, and joyful spirit will live on through the generations of family who were so blessed to call her theirs. Peggy was deeply loved and will be forever missed.
A visitation will take place on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 from 4-8pm (CT) at M.C. Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place Thursday, July 23, 2026 at 11am (CT) at M.C. Smtih Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions must be made in her memory to Dunes Hospice.
