Peter Joseph Ludwig, age 91, of Knox, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2022 at Community Hospital in Munster. Pete was born December 22, 1930 in Chicago, to Peter George Ludwig and Minnie Kasten Ludwig.
He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during the Korean War. He spent his working years operating Thermogas in Knox, retiring after 41 years. He had also spent many years as a volunteer firefighter on the Knox-Center Township Fire Department. He is survived by his wife, Linda Ludwig of Knox, his children, Bill Ludwig (Cheryl), Jane Intveldt (Bob), Michael Ludwig (Janet), Julie Canuteson (Tim) and Nancy Kreitner (Steve), and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Theresa, Florence, James and Maryann, and two grandchildren.
A funeral service will take place on Monday, August 29, 2022 at 1:00pm (CT), with visitation two hours prior to services, at M.C. Smith Funeral Home in Knox. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery in Knox. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
