William E. “Uncle Bill” Shelhart, age 82, of Knox, passed away Friday, November 19, 2021. He was born June 25, 1939 to Clifford E. Shelhart and Elizabeth “Betty” Knowles Shelhart, both deceased.
He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing, he was a member of the Sons of the American Legion and the VFW Men’s Auxiliary, and occasionally liked an adult beverage. He was retired from Local 150 Operating Engineers after many years. He is survived by his companion, Elizabeth Bratt of Knox, his children, Cliff Shelhart (Arcelia) of Knox and Patti Shelhart of Crown Point, step-children, Roger Stacy (Wanda) of Culver, Randy Stacy of Tennessee, Gary Stacy (Sue) of Knox and Paul Stacy (Brenda) of Knox, two grandchildren, Clifford Shelhart II (Bethany) and Brandon Shelhart (Skylar), great grandchildren, Adrianna, Jalen, Owen and Dakota and many step-grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Freda Jordan Shelhart and a sister, Mary Lou Rainford.
A funeral service will take place Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at 1:00pm (CT), with visitation two hours prior to services, at M.C. Smith Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Round Lake Cemetery in Knox.
